Personal Information

How does Folio collect personal information

Folio collects personal information directly from you and from third parties. During the registration process, we will ask for Personal Information (including Sensitive Personal Information).

Folio makes it easier to be you online by safeguarding your personal information and putting you in charge of what you want to share when you transact with Folio enabled websites.

Folio is contractually required to manage the security and confidentiality of the data, to protect it from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, or alteration, and to retain and destroy the data in accordance with applicable law.

We may, from time to time, receive Personal Information from third party data providers in order to enhance our product and help us better understand the needs of our customers.

Biometric Information ( face data )

Biometric data is sensitive data under the EU GDPR and Folio uses Biometric Information solely to: (i) verify your identity for the purpose of confirming your identity; (ii) protect the integrity of the Folio platform and functionality by detecting fraud and misrepresentation by unauthorised persons; and (iii) as required by law, if applicable. As a matter of policy, Folio will not disclose your biometric data to a third party, unless with your explicit consent.

Data Location

We always keep personal information in secure locations within the EU with strict access controls.  We continually test our systems and conform to ISO 27001 and SOC 2 requirements.

In some countries, for legal or practical reasons, Folio may have to store personal information in that country.

Security and Data Retention

Folio shall at all times protect your Personal Information with operational, administrative, technical and physical security safeguards.

Folio shall store Biometric Data no longer than a maximum of two (2) years from your last interaction with the Folio platform or the maximum amount of time given by law, whichever is shortest.

How Folio uses your Personal Information

Folio uses your Personal Information to enable your registration and to undertake identity verification checks. Folio will also use aggregated and anonymised or pseudoanonymised data for the purpose of data analytics.

Access, Correction and Destruction of Personal Information

Folio respects your rights to access, correct and destroy your Personal Information. You may request access to and correction of your Personal Information stored by Folio. You may also, at any time, log into your Folio account to access and update the information you have provided to us.

Information Security

Folio has implemented an information security programme that contains administrative, technical and physical controls that are designed to safeguard your Personal Information. For example, we use industry-standard encryption technology to secure Sensitive Information when it is being collected and transmitted over the Internet as well as firewalls, site monitoring and intrusion detection software.

From time to time, we may update this Privacy Policy and reserve the right to do so.
